I really enjoyed this read. While this ice-cream story would definitely seem insignificant to a regular bystander, it sadly works as perfect metaphor. There's something a little disturbing in feeding a phallic treat to a subaltern. Some girls in my high school would only eat bananas with a fork and a knife to avoid the charged looks from their male classmates when they were eating those the regular way.
